Effei celebrates the textile art of Indian culture with Alavida, a cotton fabric hand-printed in India using a blockprinting technique.
Hand block printing is an ancient art form in India and many East Asian countries. This ancient printing technique uses a hand-engraved block of wood that is dipped in dye and hand-printed onto the fabric. The result is a unique fabric that connects us to a rich tradition and history of handmade crafts.
Woodcut on fabric is the first, simplest and slowest of all textile printing methods. It is capable of producing amazing and artistic results, some not achievable by any other method.
